Luvin’Lou, born in 1977 in Munich, Germany, discovered his passion for music early on. At just 15 years old, he purchased his first set of decks, driven by the dream of starting a DJ/MC collective with two close friends. This marked the beginning of a lifelong journey in the world of underground music.
Inspired by early ‘90s house legends like Marc Kinchen (MK) and Masters At Work, Luvin’Lou also found his groove in the raw, underground sounds emerging from the British Isles. This blend of influences set the stage for his evolution as an artist.
Luvin’Lou’s first major breakthrough came in 1997 when he joined Munich’s Southern Sessions Collective. Debuting as a drum’n’bass DJ, he quickly found a kindred spirit in DJ Empee. Their shared passion for underground house and UK garage led to the formation of Exquisit-Promotions alongside DJ Flynn and Markus.
By 1999, Luvin’Lou and his team launched SWEET @ Raum8, an event series dedicated to underground house and UK garage. SWEET became a staple of Munich’s nightlife, hosting renowned artists such as The Brothers Connection, Ray Hurley, Zed Bias, and Norris Windross. The event series gained both local and international recognition, cementing Luvin’Lou’s reputation in the scene.
The success of SWEET propelled Luvin’Lou onto a larger stage. He performed across Germany and beyond, sharing lineups with icons like Karl „Tuff Enuff“ Brown, MJ Cole, and The Wideboys. Notable residencies followed, including appearances at SWEET in Munich, SWEET @ Roxy in Vienna, Pacha, Cafe King, and Zurich’s legendary Street Parade.
In 2001, Luvin’Lou transitioned into music production alongside long-time collaborator Christian Belej (aka Hantaan). Together, they formed the duo S! and Sweet Dubs, creating soulful, underground-infused remixes for artists like Brown & Cole, Robin S, and Kele Le Roc.
Today, Luvin’Lou continues to champion the underground music scene through his residency at Munich’s iconic SWEET nights. His sets seamlessly blend house, garage, and 2-step, keeping the soulful spirit of underground music alive.
