THOMAS HERB

Thomas Herb built a strong reputation as a DJ when it’s about merging soul- injected house, techno and disco into a musical journey. At the clubfront Thomas’holding a steadily expanding schedule – so he can be found performing at selected spots in- & out of his hometown: Charlie or Bahnwärter Thiel (both in Munich),Gewölbe (Cologne), Institut Für Zukunft (Leipzig), ://About Blank, Sisyphos and Watergate (Berlin), Batofar (Paris), Zukunft (Zürich), Frank Wiedemann & Ry X’s Sacred Ground Festival, Fiction NYC at Analogue and Cityfox at the Brooklyn Mirage (New York), CirQ (Venezia), Tunnel (Milan), Audio (Geneva), or Lux Frágil(Lisboa) – are just some examples. Over the years Thomas Herb has performed alongside artists like John Talabot, Dixon, Ame, Carl Craig, I:Cube, Soundstream, Karizma, Move D, Deetron, Osunlade or Gerd Janson and many more, gaining invaluable experience and inspiration.

Besides his DJ activities Thomas Herb is busy curating for and contributing to Lossless – the record label he’s running with longtime friend Mathias Schober. With the latter he’s also teaming up for productions, remixes and occasional b2b DJ-set’s under their SBTH moniker.

Der gebürtige Münchner (damals noch bekannt unter dem Künstlernamen „Mike Trend“) veröffentlichte bereits 2014 sein erstes Solo-Album auf dem italienischen Label „Amazing Music“, ehe 2017, gemeinsam mit Freund und Mentor Basti Grub, unter dem Namen „Seminar“, sein zweites Album auf Aprapta Music erschien. Bis zu Michaels musikalischem Umbruch im Jahr 2018 folgten noch weitere Releases auf namhaften Labels wie Desolat, Compost Records, Moan, Karton, Baile Musik, uvm. Gesättigt von den minimalen Beats und Sounds wurde es Zeit für ein neues, musikalisch facettenreicheres Projekt – „Sonson“ war geboren! Anfangs noch im Duett mit Basti Grub veröffentlichte Sonson seine ersten Produktionen auf „Barré Music“ und wurde bekannt für seine Edits von Depeche Mode, Billie Eilish, Massive Attack und Everything But The Girl. Seit 2023 gehen Basti und Michael (zumindest namentlich) wieder getrennte Wege. Während Basti sein Soloprojekt vorantreibt, bespielt Michael weiterhin unter dem Namen Sonson seine Residency im Münchner Kultclub Pimpernel. Aber keine Sorge: die Kooperation der beiden ist damit keinesfalls beendet! Neben diversen Soloproduktionen von Sonson steht bereits der nächste Edit von Basti Grub & Sonson in den Startlöchern.
